In 619 CE, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) traveled to Ta’if, a city in Arabia, to invite its people to Islam and seek their protection. However, he faced severe rejection, ridicule, and persecution from the people of Ta’if. After that They hurled stones at him, causing him physical harm, and he was left alone and wounded.

Despite this harsh treatment, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed for the people of Ta’if, showing his compassion and forgiveness. So that incident highlights his patience, perseverance, and commitment to spreading the message of Islam.

The Encounter:
Painful incident of taif for Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was started with his slave zaid bin Harisa(R.A) .Upon arriving in Ta’if, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) approached the leaders of the city, including the brothers ‘Abd al-‘Uzza, ‘Abd Allah, and ‘Utba, from the Banu Thaqif tribe. He presented his message, inviting them to embrace Islam and seek protection from Allah.

Rejection and Persecution:
However, the people of Ta’if responded with ridicule, mockery, and aggression. They rejected his message, calling him a “madman” and a “sorcerer.” After that The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was pelted with stones, and his sandals became filled with blood.

Angel Jibril’s Offer:
As the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sat under a tree, wounded and exhausted, Angel Jibril (Gabriel) appeared to him. Jibril offered to destroy the people of Ta’if by commanding the mountains to crush them. However, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) chose to forgive them, hoping that their descendants might one day accept Islam.
